New Kirin Info Available

I have updated the web pages to add additional information about the Kirin breed and Kirin DNA.

I am working on some additional pages to give out more detailed information about the mod, including an in-depth dive into how DNA is formatted at the binary level (for tool makers).  These new pages are not ready yet, but they are coming soon!

  1. Really loved the kirin! But, how can I choose kirins powers with cheats? I want to make an Alea with Rainbow's Dna1, 23 Dna2, and complete kirin powers, but I think each feature replace each other! What can I do?

    1. Any horse can have the Kirin's magical powers. Unfortunately, Alea's powers only work for Alea, and I don't think you can change Alea's hide at the current time. When I get time, I will post info on how to give the Kirin magical powers to any horse (basically, you just need to set the "Magic Powers" DNA to something other than 0).

  3. Hi again! So, I was checking out the new Kirin features, and I have a few questions. Are the 4 Os at the front of the DNA code all for the same trait, and what is T for? I have one without the decorative trim that only has 1 O and no T that breathes fire, but another that has two Os and no T, but has the trim, and breathes fire. Is T for something else? I'm confused.

    Also, is it just me, or do Kirins swim better than Kiricamps?

    1. At the moment, on the Kirin, the Alternate Body Type and Magic Powers both use O to indicate what they are. The leftmost O is for Magic Powers.

      T is for the Long Tail gene. You can have Kirins and other horses that have long or short tails based on if they have this gene.

So, if your DNA strand for the horse is this: OOOONNTT0000 (which is the default Kirin DNA) then the first two Os are for Magic Powers - if either of these is set to O (i.e. both are not 0), the horse gets the Kirin magic powers. The 3rd and 4th Os are for Alternate Body Type - if either of these is set to O (i.e. both not 0), then the horse will get the alternate kirin body type with side fringes, beard, longer legs, etc. The Ns are for Antlers. The Ts are for a long tail.

    3. Ok, that makes sense. What exactly do you mean by "magic powers?" And what of the swimming Kirin?

    4. By "Magic Powers" I mean a special set of magical abilities that kirins possess genetically (fire breathing and walking on water). Other future breeds may have other magical powers that are inheritable.

      Kirins do swim pretty well, and they do go a bit faster than hippocamps when moving around normally in water. However, if you hold down the charge key (same key that makes a unicorn lower its horn, usually F or R by default, depending on MC version), a hippocamp will speed up substantially while in water (and a kirin won't, unless it has a fish tail via breeding or cheats).
