New Beta for 1.16.4 Ultimate Unicorn Mod!

I just put out a beta release of The Ultimate Unicorn Mod for Minecraft 1.16.4!  

Since converting over from 1.15 to 1.16 was a lot easier than the conversion process from 1.12 to 1.15, the new beta release has pretty much all the features (mostly just missing jousting and spirit trees).

New 1.15.2 Release! Nightmares, Wands, and Lots of Bug Fixes

I just pushed out a new release of the 1.15.2 version of the Ultimate Unicorn Mod.  This release has the following updates:

  • Nightmares can fly again and make fire
  • Many configuration options added back in
  • Wand of Call Lightning re-added
  • Wand of Fireball re-added
  • Wand of Dropsies re-added
  • Fixed bug with items being collected in stacks that should not be (like equipment items).
  • Custom unicorn powers now work again (like Horn of Throwing).
  • Miscellaneous other bug fixes.

I plan to start work on the 1.16.x port in earnest tomorrow.

New Beta for 1.15.2 Ultimate Unicorn Mod

Last night I pushed out a new release of the 1.15.2 version of the Ultimate Unicorn Mod.  This release has the following updates:

  • Added back in the Oracle, and added a recipe so you can create it.
  • Fixed a bug with pegasus wing textures being drawn wrong.
  • Added configuration options to tune how often different magical horses spawn naturally, and the size of the groups they spawn in.

Jack o' Lantern Stencils

 For the first time in a while we carved pumpkins into jack o' lanterns for Halloween.  We typically like to put video game characters onto our pumpkins, but there aren't always handy stencils available.  I ended up making a couple of stencils this year based on some image searching.  

Since I took the effort to draw them, I figured I might as well make them available online in case others are looking for the same kind of stencils I was.  Here you go!

New Release of Ultimate Unicorn Mod for Minecraft 1.15.2!

I just put out a release of The Ultimate Unicorn Mod for Minecraft 1.15.2.  It is missing some features (e.g. wands, lances, nightmare fire), but most of the core features are in there.

How to Install the Ultimate Unicorn Mod (and other Mods)

Here are some instructions for installing the mod (and other mods) in Minecraft:

If you want to get and play with the Ultimate Unicorn Mod, you will need Minecraft Java Edition.  
  • Note that Minecraft Pocket Edition (which is the only version you can get on iPad or Android) does not support the mod.  
  • The same goes for the Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition - it doesn't work with the mod.
  • Game console versions (like XBox) also don't work with the mod.

Next, you will need to go to to download the mod file (also linked on the right). Make sure you get the right version for the version of Minecraft you want to play it on.

Another place you can download the mod from safely is at CurseForge, at this link: .  Whenever I make a new release of the mod, I publish the same files on CurseForge that I make available for download here.  In general, CurseForge is a nice, reputable, safe place to get all sorts of cool mods from.  (CurseForge also rewards mod authors when people download their mod, so that's pretty cool, too.)

Don't download The Ultimate Unicorn Mod from anywhere else, because I have no control over what might be in files you find on other websites.

Minecraft Forge is Necessary

Looking over both before getting started would be a good idea, paying special attention to where to click on the Forge website.

WARNING: I have found many of the ads on the Forge website to be tricky or misleading.  These ads often try to get you to download malware, and sometimes pop up warnings saying things like, "Your flash player is out of date! - Click here to download the newest version!" (you should not do this).

Do not click on any other links, ads, or popups that appear when you are downloading Forge.

Forge itself is safe, however.

Custom Horses and Fixing Bugs

A status update on the 1.15.2 release of the Ultimate Unicorn Mod: Lately I've been mostly fixing up smaller bugs with how the different horse models get drawn.

Right now I'm working on getting Custom Unicorns working in it, but if that turns out to be more effort than I like, I'll put it off until the next release.

Reminder: Not all features will be included in the first release, but the main ones should be there.

By end of today, I plan to hand off a new build to some friends for testing.

Hippocamps and Horse Equipment Working

Horseshoes, horse armor, and most other horse equipment is working on the 1.15 port of the Ultimate Unicorn Mod, and the horse inventory dialog has most of its functionality back now.  The /changeHorse command works now, too.  Hippocamps can swim again, too!  Once I get the models all looking right I'll make a release, even though some of the features won't be ported.  Then I'll look into porting to 1.16.

More Progress, Inventory, 1.16.

Horses are flying better in the new update to the mod for 1.15.2 - I've been reworking the logic of that code to clean it up and make it easier to understand (plus the movement was choppy in 1.15.2). Right now I'm working on getting the horse inventory working, since the mod needs that to work to access a lot of the things you can do with magical horses. I plan to release a version when the main things are working - horses moving around and interacting with the world correctly, breeding working, main horse inventory screen working. Custom horses may or may not make it into my first release After that, depending on what people want, I'll polish that release a bit or move on to getting a version out for 1.16.

Version for Minecraft 1.15.2 Progressing

I'm making progress on the new version of the mod for 1.15.2, though it's going slower than I like. There were a lot of changes between Minecraft 1.12 and 1.15.2, which makes it a big job. Life has been keeping me overly busy, as well, so I haven't gotten as much time to spend on the mod as I want. That said, I have gotten most of the breeds appearing in the new version. Winged horses can fly, unicorns can stab things with their horns, and Typhon the Destroyer can bust blocks. And it's pretty stable. Still plenty to do, but I think this is good progress. I'm hopeful I can get a version out soon. I want to make sure most of the important features are working before I get even that first version out, though! Thanks for your patience!
