1.17 Progress

I'm making steady progress on the new 1.17 version of the mod. I've gotten the new object registration code pieces worked out, and I'm working on those magical horse models.

For now I've commented out some of what used to be called "Tile Entities" but are now "Block Entities." This includes things like the Oracle and Tree Holes. Depending on how hard those are to change over, I may put them out after I get the main feature (the magical horses) done.

After looking deeper at the official Forge migration guide, it seems like there are some pretty cool new things going on under the hood, like some new rendering capabilities, new graphical user interface options, and new a complete fluid overhaul. I don't know how I'll make use of any of these new capabilities, but there could be some fun opportunities there.

One of the things I look forward to after getting this done is updating the horse speech interface. Right now in 1.16.5 it works fine, but there really should be some extra bells and whistles, like actual inventory-style trading boxes and such.

Anyway, I'll keep on working, and hopefully I can get this new version out soon!

1.17.1 Version Coming Soon (and other things)!

Now that Minecraft Forge is out for 1.17.1, I'm working on the Ultimate Unicorn Mod port for that version of Minecraft. Development is progressing, and I'm hoping to have the new version out this month.

Other than that, I'm working on fixing some bugs that my kind and helpful users posted on the Discord server.

I'm also expanding the story of The Oracle Quest! I hope you've enjoyed talking to the horses so far, and that you're as excited for the rest of the story as I am.

As I get into the story, I've been thinking as well about how I might improve the way you talk to and interact with magical horses. As you likely know, the system in place allows horses to see and interact with items you hold in your hand. I'm considering changing that up a bit, and making actual interface inventory boxes that you can use, like when you are trading with villagers. I'm still figuring out how exactly I want to improve this part, and if I want to do anything beyond the obvious.

New Ultimate Unicorn Release - 1.16.1

The new release of the Ultimate Unicorn Mod is ready! This new version, 1.6.1, fixes some crash bugs and also lets you breed your magical horses with donkeys and mules (their children inherit donkey ears).

New Ultimate Unicorn Mod Release - 1.6.0.1

I just put up a new bug-fix release of the Ultimate Unicorn Mod. This new version, 1.6.0.1, fixes a bug that prevents you from being able to configure which biomes magical horses can spawn in. It also adds a configuration option to make it easier to see what biomes are in your world.

New Ultimate Unicorn Mod Release - 1.6.0

I just released a new version of the Ultimate Unicorn Mod! This new version, 1.6.0, introduces hippogriffs, as well as quests and the ability to talk to magical horses.

To get started with quests, name one of your tame magical horses Adrian. Once he is named, you will be able to talk to him, and he will give you more details.

Super Close to Release

I'm getting really close to releasing the next version of the Ultimate Unicorn Mod. Just a few more pieces of dialog and one more new item to get squared away!

I've gotten a few more bugs fixed in the meantime, and at least one more new minor feature in place, so I'm really happy about that.

My plan is to do one more preview release for my patrons on Tuesday or Wednesday, then release to everyone on Friday or Saturday to kick off the long weekend right!

Other new features in the Preview Release:

• Added capability for users to add new speech options to what the Oracle says. I'll be describing how to do this in a new post in a few days.
• Added support for other Non-player-character dialog. This isn't being used yet, but will soon allow you to talk to other magical horses other than the Oracle.
• Made it so that putting wing tips on your flying horse make it so they can hover (instead of slowly descending automatically). This doesn't work on horses with tiny wings like nightmares, though, because they fly differently.
• Changes so that riders can see better on bigger horses.
• Fixed Power Horseshoes recipe.
• Fixed a bug that was preventing breeding of horses.
• Some other minor bug fixes.

What's Coming Next

The Ultimate Unicorn Mod has some exciting changes coming in the near future.
