New Controls for Flying, Buffeting, and Charging

There are a few new keyboard commands you need to know to properly control these new horses.

F Key - Use this key to make your unicorn (or horse wearing a helmet) lower his head to charge. This key also makes him use wands placed in his horn slot.
C Key - This key has two functions that only work on winged horses.
  1. When on the ground, it makes your horse perform a wing buffet attack. If you are riding horse with small wings near a fire source, that horse will also throw fireballs.
  2. When in the air, it makes your horse fold up his wings and drop toward the ground.
Jump key (usuallly spacebar) - If your horse has big wings (i.e. pegasus wings), holding this down will make him fly into the air. When you release the jump key, he will also rear up and kick. If he has tiny wings (i.e. nightmare wings), his flying mechanics work slightly different: the jump key makes him jump, but he can effectly run across the open air while losing very little height.

  1. Thank you for this very nice mod but I'm afraid I can't ride my "horse" anywhere. I'm on a AZERTY French keyboard.

    To be more specific, direction (w,a,s,d) or in my case (z,q,s,d) won't work at all.

    Any idea ?

    1. Oh, wow, interesting problem. So the zqsd movement controls work normally for you while walking around or riding a vanilla Minecraft horse, correct (with this mod loaded, of course)?

      However, if you get on one of the unicorns, pegasi, etc., movement no longer works at all?

      Do any of the keys work?

      Does 'F' or 'C' do anything?

      How about the jump key (spacebar)?

  2. I play with weird controls, ie C is my destroy key, F is copy block (for creative). Can I change the control keys around so my Minecraft doesn't get upset?
    (I also asked other questions on the Ultimate Unicorns page from October.)

    1. You can change the controls. They are right on the Controls Screen (Main Screen -> Options -> Controls). They are under the heading "Magical Horse Controls".

  3. Hi!
    Your "F" key interfere with Thaumcraft mod. Thaumcraft use it only if proper tool selected. Can you change behavior to work only if not used by selected tool?

    1. Yeah, it's probably just better to change the key altogether with the control options. Adding in code to check for Thaumcraft and change the key bindings is a lot of work, and wouldn't be used much.

    2. What I really want is Unicorn use "F" key if no selected tool to tune with it. Not to autochange key. Too hard it seems.
      Probably you can give Unicorns ability to use it at will: when moving to enemy.
      I like you mod. Only two things annoy me:
      1.Unicorns are too stupid to move away from Cactus and prefer to die.
      2.Missing seventh color in rainbow.

    3. I installed Psi and got yet another conflict with "C" key.
      But what is worse, Psi CAD recipe masked by your horse helmet recipe. I can get it via creative but could you solve collision with Psi author?

    5. Can you use Sprint key (Ctrl) for charge?
      Can you use Back key ("S") for dive, tap for wing buffet attack?
      You have "V" key in options, which act exactly like Jump (Space) key and seems obsolete.
